Accident Reporting
Accidents are recorded by two well established organizations, with anonymous reports published annually. They rely on divers voluntarily reporting cases and near misses. Both organizations’ goal is to create a safe environment for divers to learn from others’ experiences and mistakes. Both organizations have standardized forms to glean appropriate data.
The Divers Alert Network have maintained a diving incident database since 1989, reports are available online.
The British Sub Aqua Club has maintained an electronic diving incident database since 1997, reports are available on line. Manual reporting has been done since the late 1960’s.
